Ukrainians have learned to manoeuvre between power outages and perform the maximum amount of work. We are fine with time management. But power outages do not always go according to schedule and you need to be prepared for different situations. .
We will tell you how to save products if the electricity is cut off and what handy tools can be used for this.
How to preserve food when the electricity goes out
- Move perishable foods from the refrigerator to the freezer. You can put cheese, sour cream, milk and even ready-made dishes here. Try not to open the freezer door one more time so as not to let the cold out.
- Use a washing machine. When you know that you have to turn off the electricity according to the schedule, then transfer all the ice from the refrigerator to the drum of the washing machine. Place all foods to be stored on ice. Close the machine door. For some time, the products will lie quietly in your new "fridge". The plus of such storage is that the washing machine will remove all the water itself and you will not have to wipe anything. By the way, you can prepare ice containers in advance.
- At sub-zero temperatures, products can be stored on the balcony or outside the window. Vegetables and fruits should preferably be wrapped in parchment paper and a towel or foil. The meat can be wrapped in newspaper or foil and placed in a metal bowl. You can also use a thermal bag.
- If the electricity was cut off for more than 4 hours, it is advisable to cook some food. Use a gas oven to cook meat, dry greens, bread, and make a cheese casserole.
- Use salt. Firstly, some products can be salted, secondly, you can use a salt solution. For example, it can be used to preserve sausage or sausages. You need to wet a towel with salt water, wrap the sausage in it and put it in a dark, cool place.
